Apna Ghar privacy policy
Last updated 28 October 2026
Apna Ghar is a household app made by iDevia ("we"). This page explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to delete it. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and name. If you sign up with a password, we store only a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of it. If you use Google sign-in, Google tells us your email address and name; we get nothing else from your Google account.
- Your profile photo, if you add one. It's shrunk on your phone before upload, and shown to you and the members of your households. If you sign in with Google and have no photo, we use your Google account's photo. You can remove it at any time.
- What you and your household add: the household's name and address; shopping and inventory items, including any brand, model, price, dates, location and notes you enter; reminders; maintenance records, including service providers' names and phone numbers you enter; calendar records, including amounts; and invitations (the invited person's email address and your message).
- Sign-in sessions: when each of your devices signed in and was last used, so you stay signed in.
- Your time zone: your phone's offset from UTC (for example +5:30), so reminders arrive at your local time.
- Notifications: the notifications shown to you, your notification settings and, if you allow notifications, a push token for your phone.
- Server logs: for each request, your IP address, the time, the address requested and your app or browser version. We use them to keep the service running and to stop abuse, such as repeated sign-in attempts.
We don't collect your location or contacts, or any photo besides the profile photo you choose. The app has no analytics.
Ads
The Android app shows ads from Google AdMob: a small ad on the Home page and, now and then, a full-screen ad after you save something. AdMob is run by Google, and it collects data from your phone directly, such as your advertising ID, IP address and device details, to show and measure ads. We don't send AdMob anything you or your household add to Apna Ghar. Where the law requires it (for example in the EU and UK), the app asks for your consent first. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off personalised ads, in your phone's settings. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services.
How we use it
Only to run Apna Ghar: to sign you in, keep your household's lists in step between its members, send the notifications you have turned on, and keep the service secure. We don't sell your data or use what you add to the app for advertising.
Who can see it
Everything in a household is shared with its members, and they can see who added what. A member with view-only access can see but not change anything. Only people you or another member invite can join.
Who else handles it
- Hetzner Online GmbH hosts our server and database.
- Google delivers notifications to your phone (Firebase Cloud Messaging): it receives your phone's push token and each notification's title and text. If you use Google sign-in, Google handles that sign-in under Google's privacy policy.
- Google AdMob shows the ads in the Android app, as described above.
- Jumploon, our email service, sends the codes that confirm your email address and reset your password, through Amazon Web Services. It receives your email address and the message.
- If you add shopping items or calendar records by voice, your phone's speech service (Google or Apple) turns your speech into text, and NVIDIA (NIM) reads the items, or the record's details, out of that text. NVIDIA receives only the text, not your audio, name or email.
- NVIDIA (NIM) also picks a picture for each new shopping or inventory item name. It receives only the item names, not who added them or which household.
We share your data with no one else, unless the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
Your account and household data are kept until you delete them. Ended sign-in sessions are removed within a day. Server logs are overwritten as they fill up. Nightly backups of the database are kept for 8 weeks.
Deleting your account
In the app, open the More tab, then Delete account, or use the account deletion page. You can also email us from your account's address. Deletion is immediate: your account, profile photo, sessions, push tokens, household memberships, notifications and settings are deleted. Things you added to a shared household stay for its other members, without your name. A household you alone own passes to another member, or is deleted if you are its only member. Copies in backups are gone within 8 weeks.
Your choices
You can change your notification settings in the app, or turn notifications off in your phone's settings. To see, correct or export your data, email us and we'll help.
Security
The app talks to our server only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Passwords are stored hashed, and each household's data is only available to its members.
Children
Apna Ghar isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date at the top.
